Today’s word is:
\\This is the month that I’m supposed to practice being grateful.
This is the month where people challenge and dare to think of something to be thankful for everyday; to celebrate life and love and wellness and be thankful for it all.
But sometimes it’s hard to be thankful when we’re thinking about the larger things in life that we are pretty disappointed about: our circumstances, finances, health, politics—whatever it may be.
Those things feel like a heavy, burdensome mass that rests on our shoulders, making thankfulness a hard thing to muster up.
But what if thankfulness isn’t so much about the larger things in life, but the common, everyday things we tend to walk right by? What if we became hyper aware of all of the small things and took delight in the seemingly insignificant?
Like the leaves changing colors.
A favorite song on the radio.
Brisk, fall air.
Hugs from another.
A big, full moon.
Refreshing conversations with friends.
A warm, cup of Pumpkin Spice Coffee (Amen!)
Quiet moments in a crazy day.
A good night’s sleep.
Hallmark Christmas Movies (Yeah I know, it’s only November.)
A verse that speaks to the heart.
A nice customer.
A butterfly landing on my hand.
And yes, that front row parking spot at a busy Walmart.
These are the common, quirky happenings that fill my heart and make me appreciate the moment that much more.
Lord, teach me to keep my eyes out for the common, the ordinary, and the mundane happenings that can make all the different in my heart. //
